As he nears the end of his final tour, guitarist Peter Frampton has shared a new live video featuring his band’s powerful instrumental rendition of “Georgia On My Mind”, the Hoagy Carmichael-and Stuart Gorell-penned classic widely popularized by the late Ray Charles.

The new video features live performance footage recorded at multiple stops throughout this trek, billed as Peter Frampton Finale—The Farewell Tour. Frampton’s explosive, electric guitar-led version of “Georgia On My Mind” is featured on his 2019 album, All Blues, out now via UMe. Check out the new video below:

All Blues was recorded with Frampton’s longtime touring band, made up of Adam Lester (guitar/vocals), Rob Arthur (keyboards/guitar/vocals) and Dan Wojciechowski (drums). The album was recorded at Frampton’s studio in Nashville, Studio Phenix, and was co-produced by Frampton and Chuck Ainlay. It features collaborations with Kim Wilson, Larry Carlton, Sonny Landreth, and Steve Morse.

While “farewell tours” come up frequently and often stretch out indefinitely, the reason this tour is Frampton’s final ride is based on more than just ticket sales. Earlier this year, Peter Frampton revealed that he had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). This progressive muscular disorder is characterized by muscle inflammation, weakness, and atrophy, which threatens to impede his ability to play the guitar.

Frampton learned of his diagnosis several years ago, but only began to feel the effects last year. As he told CBS This Morning in February, “What will happen, unfortunately, is that it affects the finger flexors. That’s the first telltale sign is the flexors, you know. So for a guitar player, it’s not very good.”

While he maintained at that point that the symptoms hadn’t yet started to affect his playing, he noted, “In a year’s time, maybe not so good … I’m a perfectionist and I do not want to go out there and feel like, ‘Oh I can’t, this isn’t good.’ That would be a nightmare for me. I’ve been playing guitar for 60 years. Started when I was eight and now I’m 68. So, I’ve had a very good run.”
