Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh has added yet another January performance at Terrapin Crossroads to his ever-growing schedule. Lesh will be joined on stage by an all-star lineup including guitarists Stu Allen and Scott Law, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, and drummer John Molo on January 16th.

The Instagram post announcing the performance in Terrapin Crossroad’s Grate Room comes just after Lesh played in the Crossroad’s Backyard on New Year’s Day, and then played another show the following day in the Grate Room. Additionally, Lesh has another sold-out performance scheduled for tonight, January 7th, once again in the Grate Room.

Lesh had been on the mend throughout the tail end of 2019, recovering from a back surgery that forced him to postpone his Phil-o-Ween run of concerts at The Capitol Theatre over Halloween weekend. However, Lesh triumphantly returned to the stage in mid-December for a brief performance alongside his son Graham Lesh at the Marin County Mart, for his first show since undergoing back surgery in August.

It appears that Lesh is getting ready for what is already looking like a marathon year for the 79-year old musician, as his calendar fills up more and more by the day. LOCKN’ previously announced that this year’s festival, rescheduled to June 19th–21st, will be an all-star celebration of Lesh’s 80th birthday. While no official lineup has been released yet, it stands to reason that Lesh will show up to his own birthday party.

Then on New Year’s Eve came the announcement that Lesh would be making up for the Phil-o-Ween cancellation with a three-show run at The Capitol Theatre March 13th-15th, which will serve as a special “surprise” party for Lesh’s 80th birthday on the 15th. However, the surprise is more for the audience than it is for Lesh, as this will be a unique set of Phil Lesh & Friends where the audience is unaware of who the Friends are until the curtain comes up each night.

Tickets for Phil Lesh at Terrapin Crossroads are available on the venue’s website, and tickets for his three-night surprise birthday party are available on his website.
