Phil Lesh has postponed his upcoming Phil & Friends Halloween run at The Capitol Theatre as he continues to recover from a back surgery he underwent in August.

In his place, Dark Star Orchestra will take over the October 31st, November 1st, and November 2nd dates at The Cap, where they’ll recreate classic Grateful Dead shows from the venerable Port Chester, NY theater each night.

Phil Lesh delivered the news himself in a video posted by The Capitol Theatre on Monday. As Phil explains, “I want you all to know I’m very disappointed I’m not going to be able to make these shows. I’m feeling really good, but the doctors recommended I take more time to recover from the surgery I recently had. The Dark Star Orchestra is going to be filling in for us and they’re going to be doing classic Grateful Dead shows from the Cap Theatre. … Happy Halloween to you all, and I’ll see you soon.”
