With his 79th birthday just around the corner on March 15th, Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh is still keeping a busy schedule throughout 2019. With a number of performances scheduled through the first half of the year, the septuagenarian will once again return to the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Wednesday, May 29th with son Grahame Lesh, Elliott Peck and the entire Terrapin Family Band in tow, along with support from Grammy Award-winning progressive bluegrass outfit The Infamous Stringdusters (purchase tickets here).

Phil Lesh and The Infamous Stringdusters are no strangers to one another, having collaborated a number of times over the years including at Lesh’s own Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA, as well as at the jam-friendly LOCKN’ Music Festival in Arrington, VA. The LOCKN’ collaboration came in 2016 by way of a collaborative Phil & Friends set loaded with special guests including Joe RussoJon FishmanPage McConnell, Anders Osborne, and more. With the Stringdusters on hand to open the evening’s festivities, we wouldn’t be surprised if Phil and company reprise this memorable collaboration on the Rocks.

As The Infamous Stringdusters’ Travis Book wrote in the band’s announcement post, “Phil Lesh is a legend, in every sense of the word. To see him play is an honor, to share the same space with him a privilege, and to share the stage is beyond words. We’re truly grateful for the opportunity to perform at the world’s most iconic venue with one of the world’s most iconic bass players and musicians.”

Tickets for the Red Rocks performance on Wednesday, May 29th are currently on-sale and can be purchased here. For event updates and additional information, check out the Facebook Event page.
