Phish will return home for another four-night run at Madison Square Garden to ring in 2022, the band announced on Wednesday. The 2021—2022 edition of the band’s New Year’s Eve run will take place December 29th, 2021 through January 1st, 2022.
A ticket lottery request period is now open for the Phish 2021—2022 New Year’s Even run at MSG. The announcement states that all attendees ages 12 and up must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Children 11 and under must provide a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours prior to when doors open to each show. The band also asks everyone to “please wear a mask at Phish shows.”
Another COVID-induced wrinkle for Phish’s MSG run will see the full adoption of mobile ticket delivery. Fans can request commemorative tickets for the shows for an additional shipping and handling fee, however, the tickets will not ship until January after the concerts. In addition, fans should note that four-day mobile tickets will not be able to be split into individual show tickets.
Phish’s 2021–2022 New Year’s run will add to a storied history for Phish at Madison Square Garden dating back nearly three decades. The band’s last MSG show, on 12/31/19, ended with some unexpected tension and excitement when a stalled platform being used as part of the band’s New Year’s gag left Trey Anastasio hanging from the arena’s ceiling. He was eventually retrieved by the “Rescue Squad,” which has since lent its name to a semi-regular string section for Anastasio’s solo shows.
