On Tuesday night, Phish played their first of a two-night run at Camden, NJ’s BB&T Pavilion (formerly Susquehanna Bank Center, the E Centre, and the Tweeter Center), returning to the venue for the first time since June 10th, 2011. Fans were eager to get back to the southern-New Jersey shed that Phish has played some noteworthy performances at in the past.

Phish opened up the show with “Crowd Control”, as the Undermind gem made its 2018 debut. The set continued with a bouncy “No Men In No Man’s Land”, before Phish dialed things in and took “Blaze On” on a nice 11-minute romp, which included some noteworthy guitar work by Trey Anastasio. “Lawnboy” followed, a song that will forever be engraved in people’s minds after last summer’s monstrous excursion, giving way to Mike Gordon’s recently debuted “Infinite”, played for the second time ever. Keeping it old school, Phish worked through “Wilson”, “Roggae”, and “Rift”, which gave way to a rocking “46 Days”. A smoothly segued “Sparkle” into “David Bowie” brought the hot first set to a close.

Moving to set two, Phish opened with a monstrous 24-minute “Down With Disease”, easily surpassing the previously three played renditions this summer. The jam was complex and intricate, veering in different directions throughout its path, with a Page McConnell-led power-rock segment; blissful, fluffy territory; and a hard-hitting Anastasio guitar build-up, leading to the culmination of one of the summer’s top jams. Meaty renditions of “Backwards Down The Numberline” and Big Boat‘s “I Always Wanted It This Way”, before the band took a breather with Anastasio’s delicate and heartfelt “Miss You”. The band continued to see the light between their minds, as Phish took “Light” on a length 16-minute voyage, before the classic “Mike’s Song”> “I Am Hydrogen”> “Weekapaug Groove” segue brought the Tuesday night heater to a close. The band encored “Show Of Life”, marking the Anastasio/Steve “Dude of Life” Pollak co-written ballad’s first appearance since 2016.
