On a clear night in Seattle, Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew were able to Remain In Light with help from Cool Cool Cool. Tuesday’s show at the Moore Theatre came as part of the former Talking Heads‘ ongoing celebration of the 1980 new wave classic with the expansive funk septet.

Cool Cool Cool got the night started with the band’s growing trove of original music. The group consists of guitarist/keyboardist Craig Brodhead, trumpeter/keyboardist Chris Brouwers, drummer Mikey Carubba, vocalist Shira Elias, vocalist Sammi Garett, saxophonist Greg Sanderson, and saxophonist/vocalist Josh Schwartz, who first got involved with Jerry and Adrian as members of the now-defunct Brooklyn outfit Turkuaz.

After performing their opening set, the members of Cool Cool Cool came back out for a thorough examination of Remain In Light alongside other Talking Heads classics. The tour, which began back in February, has also seen Jerry and Adrian touch on the other entries of their extensive musical resumes, including Harrison’s solo catalog and selections from Belew’s work with King Crimson.

Following a show tonight, May 18th, in Vancouver, the Jerry Harison, Adrian Belew, and Cool Cool Cool touring conglomerate will take a well-deserved break before regrouping next month in Chattanooga, TN. From there, the ensemble links up with Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade for a run of co-headlining shows with the Primus leader’s newly-reunited psych-rock musical cavalcade.
