Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews & Orleans Avenue brought a taste of New Orleans to New Jersey on Friday. The band stopped by Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown for a funky NOLA threauxdown as part of the Off The Chain Tour.

Trombone Shorty recently hit the road again following a busy summer and fall. Earlier this year, the New Orleans mainstay hosted the Voodoo Threauxdown Tour, a traveling funk circus featuring Tank and the Bangas, Big FreediaCyril Neville the Uptown Ruler, and The Soul Rebels, plus a tribute to funk pioneers The Meters led by founding bassist George Porter Jr. with modern-day torch-bearers Dumpstaphunk.

Trombone Shorty also toured alongside Gov’t Mule in August and has made a few recent television appearances, including on The Late Show With Stephen ColbertJimmy Kimmel Live, and America’s Got Talent. He will perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC later this month.

Trombone Shorty’s tour continues tonight, Saturday, November 5th at Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford, MA, with upcoming dates including a stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and a two-night New Year’s Eve run at Belly Up Tavern Solana Beach, CA on December 30th and 31st.
