Pigeons Playing Ping Pong have revealed details for the band’s seventh studio album, Day In Time. Out April 26th via No Coincidence Records, the album is heralded with the high-energy title track, available now.
“Day In Time” comes roaring in with drummer Alex “Gator” Petropulos‘ driving four-on-the-floor beat before “Scrambled Greg” Ormont steers the song with a fresh batch of lyrics highlighting the band’s growing maturity. Gator’s drums serve as the runway for guitarist Jeremy Schon‘s soaring guitar solo, leading to a midway breakdown that makes room for special guest keyboardist Ben “Smiley” Silverstein (The Main Squeeze).
“What is an album if not a ‘day in time’?” Ormont said of the album and title track. “This record is a snapshot of our band at this exact moment. It’s a reminder that life moves fast, so we better make each second count.”
Of note, Day In Time marks the Baltimore jam-funk quartet’s first full-length studio album that doesn’t start with the letter “P.” Moreover, both the title track and the previously released single “Alright Tonight” display the ongoing evolution of a band that, having built a reputation in the previous decade for their zany onstage antics, continues to grow and develop as songwriters and artists.
“This album represents our most cohesive collection of songs to date,” Schon said. “All of the tracks on Day In Time truly represent our current writing style and where we are as a band today.”
