Baltimore-based jam-funk quartet Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will host a socially distant edition of Domefest at Thornville, OH’s Legend Valley on May 21st and 22nd, 2021. Billed as Domefest: Party In The Pods, the two-day event comes in lieu of the band’s annual festival, which was set to celebrate its 11th anniversary at Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV in 2020 before the coronavirus intervened.
The “pod-style” Domefest event will feature two nights of performances by Pigeons Playing Ping Pong with special guests in addition to music from The Domefest All-Stars, a “unique collaboration of past Domefest musicians and guests TBA.”
As frontman Greg Ormont notes in a press release announcing the event, “Obviously we’ve been keeping a close eye on the pandemic and vaccine as it relates to live events. Domefest always kicks off our summer with a bang, and we think this year’s Party In The Pods will be the best way for our fans to get together and cut loose in the safest way possible. I can’t describe how excited we are to finally play in front of The Flock again.”
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s Domefest: Party In The Pods tickets will go on sale this Friday, February 26 at 10am ET here. The pods span eight feet by eight feet with a six-foot buffer on each side and can hold between two and five attendees. Limited camping spaces are also available, as well as High Flyer (VIP) passes. Following the cancellation of 2020’s Domefest, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong hosted a virtual edition of the festival, Homefest. The band performed various drive-in shows and virtual engagements during the remainder of the year and earlier this month played a fan-less Super Bowl pre-party show from an empty Brooklyn Bowl.
