On Friday, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong shared a video from their biggest headlining show to date at The Anthem in Washington D.C on December 7th, where they were supported by Here Come The Mummies.
The pro-shot concert video highlights the shows’s “King Kong > Signed Sealed Delivered > King Kong” sandwich featuring help from the Here Comes The Mummies horn section as well as keyboardist Casey Russell of The Magic Beans. As the band fires through “King Kong”, guitarist Jeremy Schon trades licks with the Mummies’ Mummy Highlander and The High Priest Of Death. Then, the groups seamlessly jump into a cover of the Stevie Wonder classic “Signed Sealed Delivered”. The undead horn section really gets its chance to shine on the cover before they all converge back on “King Kong” to close out the segment. Watch the pro-shot video below:

Luckily, the Mummies were already familiar with “King Kong”, as they provided the horns for Pigeons’ studio release of the song, which was the first of two singles from their upcoming album, Presto, due out next year. The Mummies’ role didn’t stop there, as the band also appeared in Pigeons’ music video for “King Kong”, in which they hunt the bird-band around Summer Camp Music Festival.

In the Facebook post premiering the video, Pigeons hinted at further collaboration between the two bands, directing viewers to watch the video “to determine if Mummy Highlander and The High Priest of Death can pass the Asheville test.” They were, of course, referring to Pigeons’ two-night New Year’s Eve run The Asheville Acid Test at ExploreAshevilleArena.com Arena in Asheville, NC December 30th–31st, where the band will break the “largest headlining show” mark they set at The Anthem.
Tickets for The Asheville Acid Test are available through Pigeons’ website.
