The life of a touring musician isn’t all trashed hotel rooms and wild parties as movies like Almost Famous would have you believe, but one thing it does afford traveling musicians is access to all the roadside attractions one could ever hope to see. That’s how, while driving through Wyoming on a recent tour, Futurebirds found themselves at a natural waterslide in Lander, which forms the basis of their new music video for “Sinz & Frenz”, featuring producer/guitarist Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket).
The Athens, GA genre benders last month celebrated the release of Bloomin’ Too, the band’s latest EP. The new video for “Sinz & Frenz”, directed by Kirk Rasmussen, finds singer/guitarist Carter King, singer/guitarist Daniel Womack, singer/guitarist Thomas Johnson, bassist Brannen Miles, pedal steel player Kiffy Myers, keyboardist Spencer Thomas, and drummer Tom Myers fully embracing that celebration. The video’s profile of a carefree summer day melds idyllically with Myers’ pedal steel as the bandmates ride down the natural slip n’ slide, only to emerge on stage for a twilight concert.
“A straightforward rock ‘n’ roll song about honesty, friendship, and makin’ lemonade outta bong water and I couldn’t be more stoked with how it turned out,” said Womack, who originally penned the song to be part of a solo album that was ultimately derailed due to the pandemic.
