Primus will continue paying homage to Rush with nearly 50 newly announced 2022 dates as part of the trio’s A Tribute To Kings tour. The second leg of the tour will include its first stops in Canada and feature special guests BattlesBlack Mountain, and The Black Angels.

The Primus A Tribute To Kings tour, during which the trio performs one set of originals in addition to the entirety of Rush’s A Farewell To Kings each night, was initially announced in 2020 and later rescheduled to 2021. The 2022 leg of the tour also includes the rescheduled dates for the band’s 2021 stops in Milwaukee, Kansas City, and Cedar Rapids, which were postponed when a member of the band’s touring party tested positive for COVID-19 in October.

A Tribute To Kings marks a full-circle moment for the Les Claypool-led outfit, which first opened for Rush back in 1992. As Claypool recalled in a press release, “[Rush’s] Geddy, Alex and Neil had been superheroes to Larry, Herb and I in our teens, so when we all became pals while touring together in the early ’90s, we were pretty delighted; partially because of the musical geek-out factor but mostly because the three guys whom we had admired so much from afar, turned out to be truly great, down-to-earth humans, and like us, a tad eccentric.”
