Back in the day, experimental guitarist Henry Kaiser brought together a new guitar-centric project, Psychedelic Guitar Circus. To play electric guitar alongside Kaiser, Harvey Mandel, prolific electric blues guitarist of Canned Heat among others, and Steve Kimock, electric guitarist of Zero and various Grateful Dead associated acts, were tapped in addition to Freddie Roulette who joined on to play the lap steel guitar. With four guitarists on deck, the group toured throughout 1993, bringing this unique line-up to the masses with additional support from Bob Vega on bass, Chip Roland on organ, and Ernest Carter on drums.

Exactly twenty-eight years ago today, the Psychedelic Guitar Circus hit the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, California. This night was particularly special because it also featured a sit-in from Gregg Allman (found in Part 9). You can listen to a recording of the show, courtesy of Brian Miller, or watch vintage pro-shot footage of their performance below, courtesy of Youtube uploader Ken E.
