The pairing of Sanders with Public Enemy should come as no surprise to those familiar with the career politician and the pioneering rap crew. Bernie Sanders has seen support from a number of notable musicians during this election cycle including The Strokes, Jack White, Bon Iver, and Vampire Weekend. Public Enemy has always zeroed in on political commentary and issues facing African Americans in their music and live performances. Last year, Public Enemy’s Chuck D was awarded the Woody Guthrie Prize which “recognizes artists across media who have utilized their talents to speak for those without a platform.”
