Purple Party: A Tribute To Prince will return to Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ on Friday, September 2nd for a late-night blowout following the second of four Phish shows at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The all-star homage to the Purple One—a festival favorite from Brooklyn to New Orleans to Colorado—will take over the main Ballroom stage at Cervantes’ while upstart New Jersey jam quintet Dogs In A Pile perform at the Other Side. Tickets allow attendees to move freely between the two concurrent concerts.
This Dick’s late-night edition of the ever-evolving Purple Party will feature keyboardists Casey Russell (Magic Beans) and Joey Porter (The Motet), guitarists Isaiah Sharkey (John Mayer, D’Angelo) and Ryan Jalbert (The Motet), guitarist/keyboardist Craig Brodhead, drummer Isaac Teel (TAUK), percussionist Will Trask, bassist Nate Edgar (The Nth Power), saxophonists James Casey (Trey Anastasio Band) and Nicholas Gerlach, trumpeter Parris Fleming, and a trio of vocalists including Shira Elias, Lyle Divinsky, and Kim Dawson.
Talent-heavy late-night celebrations like this one often attract artists beyond those listed on the lineup. Back in 2019, lauded guitarist Isaiah Sharkey stopped by the New Orleans Jazz Fest edition of Purple Party for a surprise sit-in. He had so much fun that he officially signed on for the Denver edition this summer. In the summer of 2019 at another Live For Live Music Phish Dick’s late-night, The Phunk Sessions, Phish bassist Mike Gordon stopped by Cervantes’ to check out the show and wound up sitting in with the band on a rendition of Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon”.
