On Sunday night, Hollywood celebrated its biggest night of the year at the 91st Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles. The evening featured a number of notable storylines, from Spike Lee nabbing his first-ever Oscar for “Best Adapted Screenplay” (BlacKkKlansman) to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper‘s steamy rendition of their “Best Original Song”-winning hit “Shallow” from A Star Is Born.
Among the night’s biggest winners was the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, which took home four awards including a “Best Actor in a Leading Role” statue for Rami Malek‘s portrayal of the band’s iconic late frontman, Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody also took home awards for “Best Sound Mixing”, “Best Film Editing”, and “Best Sound Editing”.
In celebration of Bohemian Rhapsody‘s big night at The Oscars, the Academy recruited Queen and their current touring frontman, Adam Lambert, to open the broadcast with rousing renditions of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions”.
