Quixote’s True Blue will be closing its doors this month, with Melvin Seals and JGB on October 28th and 29th and Pink Talking Fish on October 30 and 31st. The news comes sadly after a long career of live music, cultural and social revolution, and pure magic at the Denver, Colorado Mexican joint. “Quixote’s True Blue started 20 years ago on Thanksgiving Day as a sort of refuge for Deadheads who needed a place to gather and celebrate the life of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead,” explains owner Jay Bianchi in a Facebook post.

Bianchi continues, “I have put my heart and soul into this place and I consider it a colorful and exuberant success, but I think the time has come for it to transcend its physical location.” His long-standing work and influence will last far beyond the physical location, that’s for sure. “Quixote’s has succeeded in creating a community that extends far beyond it original intentions and reaches. It has hosted my heroes, past and future, it has created MAGIC and manifested a life for me that was heretofore unimaginable. I have forged lifelong friendships, lost myself, found myself and created an infinite amount of memories. I feel like the luckiest man in the universe to be blessed with the spirit of Don Quixote, but I realize the danger of trying to contain the spiritual in something physical.” Read the full post, complete with some emotional lines from Winnie The Pooh, below:
