Record Store Day has announced that the 2021 celebration of independent vinyl retailers will take place on June 12th, 2021. This announcement comes after the original 2020 date, which was set for April 18th, was pushed back twice due to the pandemic.

Traditionally, Record Store Day takes place on a Saturday in April, but as the country continued to struggle with flattening the curve, the date was pushed to June 20th. Then, as the situation regarding COVID-19 in the United States—and around the world at large—continued to worsen, all of the releases were split between three RSD Drops dates of August 29th, September 26th, and October 24th in order to lessen the number of customers filling stores on one day.

This news comes after Record Store Day’s traditional Black Friday celebration went off as planned at thousands of music purveyors across the country. Stay tuned to the Record Store Day Facebook page and website for more information on the 2021 date and new releases.
