Red Hot Chili Peppers have released “Poster Child”, the latest single from their forthcoming LP, Unlimited Love. The track, which arrives alongside a psychedelic, animated music video, follows “Black Summer” as the second song released from the new album, due out April 1st.

A fresh encapsulation of the band’s funky, laid-back style, the new tune is led with ease by Flea‘s upbeat bassline and Chad Smith‘s steadfast backbeat. A nimble-tongued Anthony Keidis adds his characteristically percussive vocals over the top, doing his best interpretation of Billy Joel‘s “We Didn’t Start The Fire” as he name-checks various “poster children” in American culture.

The animated video for the track is a trip in itself. Directed by Julien & Thami with animation by Julien CalemardThami Nabil, and Hedi Nabil, the clip’s stylized film grain and faux-airbrush aesthetic flows from one plane of reality to the next as the five-minute jam bounces along, providing some brow-raising visuals to match the song’s easy-going groove.
