Resonance Music & Arts Festival took place this past weekend at its new home of Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV. The three-day event saw performances from hosts Papadosio in addition to headliners Umphrey’s McGee, Tipper, Lotus, Emancipator, The Floozies, and many more from Thursday through Saturday.
This year’s Resonance brought the start of new traditions as well as the end of old. For starters, this marked the Essential Productions event’s first time at Marvin’s Mountaintop, former host to the All Good Music Festival. After calling Thornville, OH’s Legend Valley home since 2015, the event moved to Cooper’s Lake in Slippery Rock, PA for 2019. Following a year off in 2020 due to COVID, the festival once again shifted locations to Masontown, WV. It appears that Resonance will call Marvin’s Mountaintop home for the time being, as local news outlets have reported that Essential Productions has signed a five-year contract with the venue.
On the subject of new beginnings, Lotus’ Saturday set marked guitarist Tim Palmieri‘s second-ever performance with the livetronica pioneers. Following the departure of founding guitarist Mike Rempel earlier this month, Palmieri made his Lotus debut just two nights before Resonance with an intimate show at Ardmore Music Hall.
Resonance 2021 also marked the end of an era as the event ended on Sunday morning with what will reportedly be producer Dave Tipper‘s final sunrise set. Tipper, along with his sunrise sets, has been a consistent headliner for Resonance since 2018. Dave Tipper’s manager made posts in several private fan pages that this would be the artist’s final sunrise set.
