Resonance Music & Arts Festival has found its new home in Charleston, SC, organizers announced on Tuesday. The long-running Essential Productions livetronic music festival will take place at The Woodlands Nature Reserve on the South Carolina coast September 15th–17th, 2022.
This news comes after EP confirmed last month that the festival would not return to Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV. The festival, which began in 2014 at Thornville, OH’s Legend Valley, has bounced around in recent years since leaving Ohio after 2018. In 2019, Resonance moved to Cooper’s Lake in Slippery Rock, PA. This proved a one-off year as organizers announced in June 2021 they were taking the festival to Marvin’s, former site of the All Good Festival and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong‘s Domefest in 2019.
Resonance took place at Marvin’s last September, though not without its problems. The Preston County News & Journal reported 16 felony arrests, 13 misdemeanor arrests, and 67 citations through the Sunday the festival ended. In the aftermath of the festival, Preston County held an after-action meeting to discuss how to amend their mass gathering mandate to prevent another festival like Resonance, which local officials allege drew nearly 20,000 attendees—well over the 10,000 person limit set by the county.
Though Essential Productions had reportedly signed a five-year contract with Marvin’s Mountaintop, the Cincinnati, OH production company revealed in January that Resonance would not return to Marvin’s in 2022. It now appears Resonance Music & Arts Festival has found its third home in four years with The Woodlands Nature Reserve in Charleston, SC.
Blind faith tickets for Resonance Music & Arts Festival 2022 go on sale today, February 22nd, at 2 p.m. ET. Organizers have not yet announced a lineup. Papadosio has served as musical host of the event since its inception in 2014.
