[UPDATE 6/3/21]: After informing patrons earlier this week that it would not return to Cooper’s Lake in Slippery Rock, PA in 2021, Resonance Music & Arts Festival has now confirmed that this year’s event will take place at Marvin’s Mountaintop in Mastontown, WV.

As organizers said of the venue change in a statement, “After tireless efforts and research, we believe we’ve finally found a home that embraces those standards and hopes to grow with us for years to come. Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV. Former site of All Good and current host of Domefest, Yonderville and now Resonance!”

The festival is set to take place at its new home on September 16th, 17th, and 18th.

[6/1/21] Organizers at Resonance Music & Arts Festival announced on Tuesday that the event will not return to Cooper’s Lake in Slippery Rock, PA in 2021. The festival is still slated to occur September 16th–18th at a location yet to be determined.

An official statement from festival organizers in the private Resonance Festival Community group on Facebook confirmed recent rumors that the festival will not return to Cooper’s Lake this year.

According to the post, signed Casey (most likely Casey Schneider of Essential Productions), this development was “sprung on us 2 weeks ago,” Since then, organizers have been scoping out new venues as well as throwing Resonate Suwannee in Like Oak, FL May 21st–23rd.

One of the reasons listed for the move was a 10 p.m. curfew for music, as well as intense blowback from the community. The schism between festival promoters and the town of Slippery Rock began almost immediately after Resonance 2019—the festival’s first appearance at Cooper’s Lake after five years at Legend Valley in Thornville, OH—and has evidently continued throughout the pandemic.

Casey listed these two factors as “insurmountable obstacles” in the decision to move the festival.

While there was no announcement of a new venue for Resonance 2021 yet, fans were assured they wouldn’t be put in a “parking lot” or anything near that. Organizers noted that they are looking for a suitable venue in Pennsylvania or Ohio that is willing to sign a five-year contract to avoid future issues. It was also stated that once a new venue is secured, the lineup for Resonance 2021 will be announced. So far, Resonance has revealed performances by Tipper (x2), LettuceEmancipator (x2), and Keller Williams (x3).

As many of you have heard, we’re unfortunately not going to be returning to Cooper’s Lake this year. This was all sprung on us 2 weeks ago and we’ve been checking out venues/throwing Resonate Suwannee in that time. We fell in love with Cooper’s and are just as devastated we won’t be going back there. 10pm curfew amongst other things (Such as the town really being against us) were insurmountable obstacles. We’re not making an announcement on venue today but are currently in talks with a few venues in our region. We wouldn’t put you guys in a “parking lot” or anything near that. We know what you all want to see in the site and we’re not going to stop until we find the suitable spot in PA/OH that is willing to sign a 5 year contract with us so we can stop dealing with this crap! Stay tuned for all details etc. We’re working as quickly as possible to assure everyone has time to rearrange plans etc. Lineup is booked and will be announced immediately upon confirmation of our new site. Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and thank you for always supporting us even when we’re down. Promise you all this is going to be the best Resonance yet, even with all the obstacles!
