The Revivalists will close out 2018 with their annual New Year’s Eve show on Monday, December 31st at Mardi Gras World in their hometown of New Orleans, LA. Joining the local octet will be fellow Crescent City special guests Tank and The Bangas. This one-night-only event, “The Other Side Of Paradise”, promises to pull out all the stops for one giant celebration.

It’s certainly been a big year for The Revivalists, who released their brand new album, Take Good Care, via Loma Vista Recordings last month. The follow-up to 2015’s Men Amongst Mountains, the 14-track studio record features a fan-pleasing mix of recent live staples including “Got Love” and “You And I” as well as “All My Friends“—which has already hit “#1 at Triple A Radio” and “Top 10 and climbing at Alternative Radio”—and an exciting variety of new tunes worth digging into and spending your own time with.

The Revivalists are certainly known for their contagious live energy, but it’s their craft of honest songwriting that sets them apart from the rest of the live music circuit. The band’s newest album beautifully showcases their evolution since they began in 2007, as well as their undeniable movement toward becoming a household name. With a sense of togetherness serving as the centerpiece to The Revivalists’ everlasting curiosity, the new album explodes with sonic complexity, celebration, and catharsis.

Beyond their infectious music, The Revivalists are also known for their tight-knit community of followers that surrounds them. Affectionately known as “The RevHeads”, the band’s fan club is annually celebrated around New Year’s Eve with an exclusive performance. Last year’s RevHeads Ball featured the band performing on a ground-level, slightly elevated stage in the middle of the room. The special show saw the band welcome a select number of die-hard fans to surround them in all directions and participate in the 360-degree experience. The setting made for a memorable evening of acoustic favorites, sing-along anthems, and even some unrecorded tunes and rarities.

The 2018 RevHeads Ball will similarly feature an intimate acoustic performance by The Revivalists, along with hors-d’oeuvres, drink specials, an exclusive NYE merch bundle, and VIP entrance to the New Year’s Eve celebration, but is currently sold out. While the main event is why we’re here, we can all still appreciate The Revivalists’ indisputable willingness to connect with their audience on a deeper level—a mission of theirs that’s always been very clear.

The 2018-2019 New Year’s Eve bash will also feature special guests Tank and The Bangas, the NOLA-based sensations that gained international attention after winning NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2017. Mixing R&B, soul, hip-hop, and spoken word, Tank and the Bangas are as original as they come. Out of 6,000 entrants on NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest, they were the chosen ones (unanimously, we might add)—and with great reason.

Tank and The Bangas were formed in 2011 at an open mic set in New Orleans. Comprised of Norman Spence on bass and keyboard, Joshua Johnson on drums, Merell Burkett on keys, Nita Bailey on percussion, and Tarriona “Tank” Ball on lead vocals, the group’s original music has stood the test of time, even earning a 2014 OffBeat award for “Best Emerging Artist”.

In the two years since Tank And The Bangas won NPR’s contest, the band has released “Smoke.Netflix.Chill” and “Spaceships” via a major label (Verve Forecast), embarked on an extensive co-headlining tour with Big Freedia (including a Red Rocks date earlier this summer), and continued to garner international recognition for their exceptionally unique musical gumbo.

It’s no wonder Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, the judge for the 2017 Tiny Desk Contest, called them “a psychedelic joy rap explosion. Like a female Sly Stone teleporting into 2017 and landing in New Orleans.”

Tank and The Bangas are a force to be reckoned with, and a live show not to be missed.
