After two years away, the Rex Foundation benefit concert will return to The Fillmore in San Francisco on December 3rd. Dubbed Bound to Cover Just a Little More Ground, the fundraising event will feature performances from Melvin Seals & JGB, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz and Scott Law with special guest Vickie Randle, and more.

Rex Foundation stuck close to home for its first benefit concert since 2019, with the Grateful Dead‘s charitable arm tapping Jerry Garcia‘s longtime keyboardist Melvin Seals to headline the festivities. Appearing alongside the 18-year veteran of the Jerry Garcia Band are guitarist/vocalist John Kadlecik, bassist John-Paul McLean, and drummer Jeremy Hoening.

Lebo and Scott Law are also longtime friends of Rex Foundation. They will stage a special performance with Vicki Randle, the singer and multi-instrumentalist who broke barriers as the first permanent female member of The Tonight Show band. Finally, the lineup is rounded out with New Orleans’ Trombone Shorty Academy. The Trombone Shorty Foundation is one of this year’s Ralph J. Gleason Award projects, which “inspire the next generation through music education, instruction, mentorship, and performance.”

“We are thrilled to be making our return to the Fillmore Auditorium for our first in-person Annual Benefit Concert since 2019!” Cameron Sears, Rex Foundation’s executive director, said. “Each year that we’ve been able to do this, we’ve reveled in live music’s ability to elevate our spirits and bring us together in support of small-but-mighty local non-profits. Together we are trying to create a vision of the future that is full of possibility. Come join us for another joyous celebration of all things Rex Foundation!”
