Stevie Nicks has stated that she is working on a movie inspired by Fleetwood Mac‘s “Rhiannon”. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the singer said she has been planning the project for some time.

In an ironic turn of events, Nicks said that she had already told the band, crew, and management of Mac that she planned to take 2020 off from touring with the group she joined in 1975. The singer, who turns 72 later this month, said that this is the first real “vacation” she’s had in four years.

In the interview, Nicks said that she has been using her time in quarantine to work on both a movie and book based on “Rhiannon”. Specifically, the two yet-unnamed projects focus on the original Welsh myth that inspired Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 hit off the band’s (second) self-titled album. During what was intended to be self-imposed, but is now government-mandated, downtime, Nicks has also begun going through her old poetry that was inspired by the Rhiannon Welsh myth as well. Nicks said that these poems go back over 30 years and that recording them and putting them to music has been added to her “to-do list”.

While making this movie was also on her “to-do list”, the outbreak of COVID-19 and forced isolation has put an effective halt to any of Nicks’ production plans. Now topping the singer’s “to-do list” is waking up at 2 pm to watch New Amsterdam, as well give advice to Harry Styles.

While she was set to take the year off of touring with Fleetwood Mac, Nicks was also scheduled to headline this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. That gathering has been canceled, however, along with Nicks’ appearances at BottleRock later this month, and Governor’s Ball in June. As of now, the singer’s only other scheduled show for this year, at Jazz Aspen Festival over Labor Day, is still set to occur. Head to Nicks’ website for updated information.
