Last month, Rock n Roll Resort announced it would be returning to its annual digs at the Hudson Valley Resort & Spa in Kerhonkson, New York, from March 23rd to 25th. Keeping in this year’s theme of The Grateful Escape, the festival will see performances by Golden Gate Wingmen, Melvin Seals & JGB, Kung Fu, Jen Durkin & The Business, Gratefully Yours, Tweed, and more, including a rare performance from The Breakfast (get tickets here).

Rock n Roll Resort is always a great getaway for friends to not only venture up to the beautiful Catskill Mountains for some fresh air, but also to embark on a wonderful musical adventure. In between the music, attendees can enjoy the indoor pool, get a little spa action in, kick it in the arcade center, and, if the weather holds up, explore the huge property that the facility boasts. Plus, with the Grateful Dead theme of the weekend, things are looking to get psychedelic and exploratory, so don’t forget the Kool-Aid!

Golden Gate Wingmen with John Kadlecik (Furthur), Jay Lane (Furthur), Jeff Chimenti (Dead & Company), and Reed Mathis (Electric Beethoven) will be one of several bands performing multiple sets, with Golden Gate Wingmen locked in for two sets on Friday night. Each member of the band has played or toured extensively with various members of the Grateful Dead—collectively, the group creates music that is both natural and always boundary-pushing.

Melvin Seals & JGB have entered into a new phase of their evolution, with the recent announcement of two new female powerhouse singers in Lady Chi and Sunshine Becker. The “Keepers of the Flame” will perform two full sets on Saturday and dig into the classic Jerry Garcia Band catalog. Seals played for fifteen years with the Grateful Dead icon, though he and the band are sure to offer other rare song selections that Jerry Garcia Band played only a handful of times.

Master ninjas Kung Fu will be stepping outside of their dojo to deliver their brand of martial art-infused, no-nonsense funk music. The Fu is also on tap for two sets throughout the weekend, with members playing in their other projects, including a rare set from The Breakfast featuring Tim Palmieri, Adrian Tramontano, Chris DeAngelis, and Jordan Giangreco and Beau Sasser Trio (check out a recent interview with the keyboardist here). In other words, keep your eyes and ears open throughout the weekend, as the members of Kung Fu will essentially be everywhere at Rock n Roll Resort 2018.

Jen Durkin of Deep Banana Blackout will perform with her latest group, Soul Power, as well as with Jen Durkin and the Business; Philadelphia funktronica act Tweed; Portland, Oregon’s psychedelic surf-rock group, Scott Pemberton Band; New Paltz-based Dead tribute Gratefully Yours; Brooklyn space-rockers Escaper; Hartford, CT soul/funk act West End Blend was just added to the Rock n Roll Resort; and the event’s artists-at-large—Sam Kininger, Scott Hannay, Craig Greenberg, and Lucid’s Lowell Wurster. With dozens of musical acts, art, vending, and activities scheduled throughout the weekend, Rock n Roll Resort v8 is a good way to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring.
