To be eligible for induction in 2022, all artists must have released their first single or album in 1996 or earlier. This marked Eminem’s first year of eligibility, with the Detroit rapper having released his debut LP, Infinite, in 1996. Beck, Eminem, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, and A Tribe Called Quest are all appearing on the ballot for the first time.

This is the sixth nomination for MC5, the fourth nomination for Rage Against The Machine, the third for Kate Bush, Devo, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, and the New York Dolls, and the second nomination for Pat Benatar, Fela Kuti, and Dionne Warwick, per Rolling Stone.
