Planet Bluegrass has announced the preliminary lineup for the 46th annual RockyGrass Festival, held July 27-29, 2018 in Lyons, CO. Among the many highlights are a reunited Old & In the Gray (featuring Peter Rowan, David Grisman, Sam Bush, Keith Little & Samson Grisman), a special David Grisman Quintet reunion of the 1978 “Hot Dawg” band (featuring David Grisman, Darol Anger, Mike Marshall, Todd Phillips and special guest Wyatt Rice), a ‘grass ceiling-shattering quintet of female IBMA instrumentalist of the year winners (featuring Alison Brown, Becky Buller, Sierra Hull, Missy Raines & Molly Tuttle), and Hot Rize‘s festival-closing set to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the festival that they were the host of in the 1980s, as well as the only-at-RockyGrass appearance of the Sam Bush Bluegrass Band. Additionally, performances from the Jeff Austin Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, Balsam Range, and more complete an exciting first phase.

The festival was founded by the father of bluegrass music Bill Monroe and the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society in 1973. Planet Bluegrass moved the festival to its current Lyons location in 1992. In recent years the RockyGrass Festival has been named the International Bluegrass Music Association’s “Bluegrass Event of the Year” and the “Best Music Festival” by Denver Westword.

In addition to music on the main stage, RockyGrass also hosts instrument contests on 5 bluegrass instruments (guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, dobro), the prestigious band contest (2017 winners Meadow Mountain play a full set on the 2018 main stage), and workshops in the intimate Wildflower Pavilion.

Tickets are currently on sale, with 3-day passes, Friday and Sunday single-day tickets, and camping passes for 3 different campgrounds are still available at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422.
