On Friday night, Rock & Rock Hall Of Fame inductee Rod Stewart offered up a performance at Los Angeles, CA’s Hollywood Bowl, which featured a collaborative five-song encore with former bandmate, Jeff Beck.
Stewart’s set featured a mix of solo originals and Faces material in addition to a plethora of covers. Rod worked through “Forever Young”, “Maggie May”, “Stay With Me”, and “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, plus covers of Sam Cooke‘s “Having a Party” and “Twistin’ the Night Away”, Marc Jordan‘s “Rhythm of My Heart”, Cat Stevens‘ “The First Cut is the Deepest”, Van Morrison‘s “Have I Told You Lately”, Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way”, and many more.
For the encore, Stewart welcomed Beck onstage, marking the first time the former Jeff Beck Group members had joined forces in a decade, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Stewart and Beck opened up the encore with a cover of Willie Dixon’s “I Ain’t Superstitious”, which was followed up by takes on Bonnie Dobson’s “Morning Dew” and The Impressions’ “People Get Ready”. Stewart, Beck, and the backing band closed the evening out with two Jeff Beck Group numbers, “Rock My Plimsoul” and “Blues Deluxe”, both off of the band’s 1967 debut album, Truth.
