Roger Waters and Lucius vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig took part in Newport Folk Fest‘s “Folk On Revival Weekend” virtual event over the weekend, where the trio shared a tribute cover of John Prine‘s “Hello In There”. The three had previously teamed up for a virtual quarantine performance of Pink Floyd‘s “Two Suns In The Sunset” shared last month.

All three musicians have performed at Newport Folk Fest in recent years, and for their appearance on the annual event’s 2020 virtual installment, the trio decided to pay tribute to Prine who last appeared the festival in 2018.

“Hello In There” first appeared on Prine’s 1971 self-titled debut album. Even though its sung by a British artist this time around, the quintessential American folk tune takes new life as performed by Waters, Wolfe, and Laessig from their respective home studio settings. Both Waters and his backing singers share lead lines while also teaming up for layered chorus lines and harmonies throughout.
