Roger Waters is back with another video from quarantine, this time performing “Vera” and “Bring The Boys Back Home” from Pink Floyd‘s classic 1979 album, The Wall. Following precedent set by his previous videos, “Mother“, “Two Suns in the Sunset“, and a cover of John Prine‘s “Hello In There“, Waters saw himself joined by Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius.

As Waters explained in the video description for his previous release, “Two Suns in the Sunset”, these quarantine performances arrived out of an idea to make an entire album of all the encores from the U.S. leg of 2017’s US + Them tour. While performing these songs remotely is difficult in its own right, the third encore, “Vera/Bring The Boys Back Home”, presented its own unique challenges.

“This is the first one with any overdubs, not an easy trick to pull off remotely, luckily the Band are all brilliant,” wrote Waters in the video’s description.

This performance of “Vera” came just weeks after the song’s namesake, Vera Lynn, passed away at the age of 103. Vera was an English Second World War-era singer-songwriter, most notably remembered for her hit “We’ll Meet Again”. The slower tune transitioned smoothly into “Bring The Boys Back Home”, which gradually built to a powerful crescendo, replete with high-gain guitar solos from Dave Kilminster and celestial vocal harmonies.

Waters noted in his description, “My father never came home, but at least in 1944 he really was fighting to defend his home. Not like now. Now the boys fight and die in colonial wars so some rich a**hole can get richer. If it were up to me I’d bring ’em all home tomorrow.”

Staying true to character, the always-outspoken Waters took a moment at the end of the video to take a jab at Trump, saying, “Bring the boys back home, particularly from Portland, you big f*cking prick.”
