Portland, Oregon-based country-rock group Rose City Band has announced the forthcoming arrival of their third studio album, Earth Trip, which is due out this spring on May 21st via Thrill Jockey Records.

Announced last week, the band fronted by Ripley Johnson—who many fans will recognize as a member of the noise-rock/psychedelia band Wooden Shjips and one half of Moon Duo—is previewing the album with the release of its lead single, “Lonely Places”, out now on major streaming platforms.

The easy-going song opens with the gliding notation of a pedal steel guitar on top of an acoustic guitar, which is joined by Johnson’s airy vocals to guide the listener through its 3:46 minute run time. The end result is a simple-yet-enjoyable, glistening Americana track complete with a few psychedelic elements to make it a perfect addition to those easygoing summertime playlists.
