Run The Jewels have given fans a taste of what to expect from the upcoming Run The Jewels 4 album with the new single “Yankee And The Brave”.

The song, released El-P‘s on Instagram on Sunday, is the first single from Run The Jewels 4. The 146-second song gives fans a quick gut punch of the kind of energy to expect from the eclectic rap duo, comprised of Killer Mike and El-P. “Yankee And The Brave” goes straight for the jugular for the first minute, as Mike eventually cedes to El-P to lay further waste to a pounding, old-school drum beat. Around the one minute mark, the vocals drop out as the instrumental scratches and becomes the focal point, even as Mike returns to fantasize about taking out over 100 cops with just one round, “I can’t let the pigs kill me I got too much pride/And I meant it when I said it, never take me alive.”

While a release date for RTJ4 has not yet been confirmed, Killer Mike told fans last month that the album would be available by the time they were originally slated to play Coachella on April 10th and 17th. Since then, the festival has been postponed to the weekends of October 9th–11th and 16th–18th, and so far Run The Jewels has not commented on whether the postponement will affect the album’s release date.

The duo is still set to hit the road with Rage Against The Machine on that band’s long-awaited reunion tour beginning on May 23rd at Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston, MA. Head to Run The Jewel’s website for tickets and information.
