Billy Strings and Sam Bush joined forces for a post-Thanksgiving celebration where the duo performed a cover of Doc Watson‘s “Walk On Boy”. This collaboration marked episode #10 of Bush’s running video series, JAMMIN WITH SAM.

“That’s right! Look who’s here today, folks,” said Bush at the beginning of the stream. “Special treat, Billy Strings is here and we both share the love of Doc Watson together, so lets do an old Doc tune for ya,” he continued, before strumming the opening chord on his mandolin.

“I was born one morning/The rain was pouring down,” Bush sang while picking along with Billy Strings. As they moved through the song the duo kept a steady tempo, right around the original’s 80 bpm. After singing the second stanza, Bush gave way to the recent Grammy Award nominee, Strings, for a quick solo before dropping back into the vocals of Watson’s 1966 tune.

Following a couple more stanzas, Bush then took his turn at a solo, gliding up and down his mandolin’s fretboard with ease while Strings kept the rhythm going on his acoustic guitar. Throughout the song’s 4:19 runtime the two would trade solos several more times before ending with Bush singing the song’s titular refrain, “Walk on boy.”
