Savannah Music Festival will return to Georgia in the spring of 2023 with an eclectic lineup including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Buddy Guy, Galactic, and many more. The 17-day festival will take place throughout the Hostess City of the South March 23rd–April 8th.
The 34th edition of the genre-crossing, cross-continental music festival delivers another delightfully diverse lineup. The 17-day festival will host an array of cultural styles, from the Tex-Mex alt-rock of Los Lobos to the New Orleans funk jams of Galactic, who will lead an impressive bill with Cory Wong and Nate Smith + Kinfolk. Galactic drummer Stanton Moore will also stage a set with his eponymous solo trio, in addition to sets by everyone from St. Paul & The Broken Bones to acclaimed acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke.
“Our 34th season expands upon what our organization has always championed, creating a compelling musical experience of global scope within Savannah’s Historic District,” Savannah Music Festival Artistic Director Ryan McMaken said. “We welcome audiences and artists into our creative community to enjoy stellar performances in intimate, historic indoor venues as well as expansive outdoor spaces.”
SMF will also present a number of unique collaborations, including newgrass forefathers Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas who will pay tribute to the late John Hartford during their joint set. Other unique performances include ngoni (banjo precursor) master Bassekou Kouyate with Black string band scholar Jake Blount as well as jazz violinist Regina Carter‘s Gone in a Phrase of Air multimedia performance exploring the consequences of urban renewal in the 1950s and ’60s.
Performances at Savannah Music Festival will take place at a variety of locations around the city including the Lucas Theatre for the Arts, Trustees’ Garden, Trinity Unity Methodist Church, and more.
