The residents of Edgeware, England’s Sydmar Lodge Care Home have been recreating classic album covers to help pass the time in isolation as the pandemic continues. The photo series was the brainchild of the home’s activities manager, Robert Speker, who devised the project as a way to keep the home’s elderly residents stimulated more than four months into their ongoing lockdown.

Since the nursing home album covers project began, Speker has posted a series of images to his Twitter account. The side-by-side shots, adapted to the specific Sydmar Lodge Care Home resident in each photo, include recreations of Adele‘s 21 (as Vera’s 93), Taylor Swift‘s 1989 (as R.C.’s 1922), Bruce Springsteen‘s Born In The U.S.A. (as Martin Steinberg’s Born in England), David Bowie‘s Aladdin Sane (as Roma Cohen’s Sydmar Lodge), Blink-182‘s Enema of the State, and more. The photo series also features a recreation of Queen‘s Queen II cover with Home staff as Carers.

In the wake of the widespread response to the nursing home photo project, Speker has launched a GoFundMe page in order to direct its momentum toward charitable causes. According to the fundraising page, donations will be divided between organizations like Dementia Friends U.K., the Alzheimer’s Society, and Age U.K. Visit the GoFundMe page and support the project here.
