Ahmed Gallab, known more commonly as his creative alias Sinkane, has released a new album comprised of demo recordings and unreleased songs with Lost Tapes, which arrived onto Bandcamp this past Friday.

The 10-track album follows 2019’s Dépaysé, and welcomes listeners into the wonderfully creative mind of the Brooklyn-based guitarist and singer whose impressive list of past collaborations ranges from William Onyeabor to David Byrne.

A statement shared by Gallab to go with the album’s arrival this weekend reads,

I’ve written a lot of songs that haven’t made it on to an album for one reason or another. Sometimes I’ll go back to old hard drives and listen to see if I can revive one or two. I thought it would be fun to share some of these songs with you. Some are (still) unfinished, don’t have lyrics. Some you’ll recognize as demo versions. A couple are totally finished but haven’t seen the light of day (until now). I’m releasing this stuff because I think it’ll help me connect with you all more. You’re seeing how the sausage gets made. The imperfections, blips, wonky bits. Warts and all. There’s more where this came from. And maybe I’ll share more in the future. In the meantime enjoy these records.

The various recordings on the album include guest performances from singers Mark Himmel and Kathryn Fink, Vibraphonist Roberto Carlos Lange, horn players Elliot Bergman and Justin Walter, bassist John Paul Frank, drummer Jason “jaytram” Trammell, and more.
