Sinkane‘s Ahmed Gallab has not been shy about showing his support for friends and family over in Sudan, as citizens of the African country continue to revolt against the temporary militarized government following the arrest of President al-Bashir last month. On Tuesday, Gallab announced the arrival of his latest single, “Ya Sudan (يا سودان )”, which, as he puts it, reflects his cultural roots, family, and what it means to be Sudanese.

The new single follows the previously-shared “Everybody” and “Dépaysé“, as tracks set to appear on Sinkane’s forthcoming studio album, Dépaysé, which is due out on May 31st via City Slang Records.

“Ya Sudan (يا سودان )” hears Gallab both acknowledging and showing appreciation to those in his family and culture who came before him. Throughout the lively song, Gallab belts out the lyrics, “I think of all the people here on my journey/How they help bring out new parts of me!”

Fans can hear the inspiring new single via its colorful new video below. The theme of the animated video came to Gallab through inspirations pulled from vintage Sudanese vinyl artwork, and includes a mix of family photos from his childhood.
