SiriusXM has announced a number of new, limited-time, artist-centered channels to help keep the masses entertained at home during self-isolation. On May 1st, the satellite radio giant will launch new channels dedicated to the music of David Bowie, The Eagles, Guns N’ Roses, Prince, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, and George Strait.
The new channels come as part of the extension of the satellite radio giant’s “Stream Free” period through the end of May, which allows users to listen to SiriusXM’s full lineup of streaming content for free on the SiriusXM app. They join existing artist-centered SiriusXM channels like The Beatles Channel, Phish Radio, E Street Radio, Elvis Radio, The Grateful Dead Channel, Pearl Jam Radio, and more.
As SiriusXM president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein notes in a statement, “It’s like catching lightning in a bottle for SiriusXM to be able to offer authorized channels from these iconic artists, not only to our subscribers, but at a time when our app is free to everyone. These channels, combined with our already incredible set of artist-dedicated channels, makes SiriusXM the ultimate audio destination to bring fans closer to the artists they love, and at a time when people can use some great music.”
