Smashing Pumpkins have announced their Rock Invasion 2 tour, which will serve as a sequel to the original Rock Invasion tour from 1993.
Frontman Billy Corgan noted that the shows on this tour will be more rock-based than previous performances, coinciding with a return to the band’s rougher, early-1990s style . The previous Rock Invasion tour was in promotion of the band’s 1993 breakout album, Siamese Dream, which has since gone platinum four times over. The tour begins on April 23rd at The Louisville Palace in Kentucky, and from there the band will play shows throughout the Midwest and along the East Coast into early May.

“It’s been a good while since we’ve played a straight-up, bare-knuckle rock and roll show — one that avoids little in the way of raw power,” Billy Corgan said in a statement. “So note: this tour won’t be for those faint of heart and will certainly echo the dynamic modes in which we built our live reputation.”
These dates join previously-announced headlining appearances at Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, TN on May 1st, as well as Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta, GA on May 2nd. After the Rock Invasion 2 run, Smashing Pumpkins will hit the road with Guns N’ Roses to open a series of shows for them on their upcoming stadium tour.
Tickets for all of the new concert dates, except for April 29th at The Rust Belt in East Moline, IL, go on sale on Friday, March 6th at 10 a.m. local time through the band’s website and Live Nation. Scroll down to see a full list of tour dates.
