Being a jazz collective means wearing a lot of hats, and Snarky Puppy has lent themselves to some serious collaborations in recent years. Between the two Family Dinner albums, a disc with the Metropole Orkest and more, there’s a reason the group has two Grammy awards under their belts.

Today, however, the group has announced a project that will take them back to their instrumental jazz roots. For the first time in seven years, the band will release an audio-only studio album. The new project is called Culcha Vulcha, with nine all-original tracks performed by the band’s enormous collection of musicians, including longtime members Bobby Sparks and Zach Brock.

According to the band, it’s as “different flavor” from their past works, but we’re still expecting the same level of greatness that Snarky Puppy has come to define. For pre-orders and more information, head to Amazon. The new release is due out on April 29th.
