Snarky Puppy threw a serious late-night party at the Republic last night. With members such as Bob Lanzetti, Nate Werth, Michael Leage, Jason Thomas, Justin Stanton, Chris Bullock, Mike ‘Maz’ Maher, Jay Jennings, Caleb Sean McCampbell, and new drummer Jamison Ross all on hand for the show, the group played a two-set extravaganza that featured a sizable portion of material from their latest effort Culcha Vulcha.

The group welcomed a very special guest from one of the greatest bands of all time during the encore, Spinal Tap‘s own Derek Smalls (aka Harry Shearer). Shearer, the co-creator of Spinal Tap, along with being a NOLA resident and the voice of a plethora of characters on The Simpsons, joined the Puppy dressed in full-on 80’s hair metal gear for a cover of Spinal Tap’s “Big Bottoms.
