Snarky Puppy is the latest musical act to grace the NPR offices and staff with live music as the band delivers their infectious blend of jazz-fusion in the new episode of the popular “Tiny Desk Concert” series.

The episode, shared on Wednesday, showcases members of Snarky Puppy as they deliver a pair of instrumental tunes for the NPR staff in the 20-minute episode. One of the songs, “Xavi”, appeared on the band’s recent studio album, 2019’s Immigrance.

The band’s lineup includes Michael League (Bass), “JT” Thomas (drums), Nate Werth (percussion), Shaun Martin (keys), Bobby Sparks (keys), Justin Stanton (keys, trumpet), Jay Jennings (trumpet), Chris Bullock (saxophone, flute), Chris McQueen (guitar) and Zach Brock (violin), all of whom nearly filled up the entire area of Bob Boilen‘s desk to pump out some wonderful performances of “Tarova” and “Xavi”.

The taped performance becomes more of a communal effort when Michael League attempts to get the crowd involved with their attempt at handling the concept of polyrhythms by way of clapping before diving into “Xavi”.
