Social Assassins, the cross-cultural, psychedelic, instrumental fusion project led by guitar virtuoso Gabriel Akhmad Marin of Consider The Source, has released its debut studio album, Only A Fool Fights in a Burning House, and shared a new video for the song “Begrudging Acquiescence”.

With an eclectic combination of Eastern influences and psychedelic rock, jazz, heavy metal, electronic-inspired beats, and more, Social Assassins blur the boundaries between cultures and genres, resulting in a sound that is both innovative and completely unique. The band boasts a high caliber of musicianship, with Marco Cirigliano on drums, Nick Joz on bass, and Sage Xavier on guitar alongside Marin, who wields his signature double-neck guitar, crafting lyrical melodies on the fretless neck and unleashing mind-bending solos on the other.

“This band is really exciting,” Gabriel told L4LM. “The few shows we have played have had an unbelievable energy both on and off stage, with both dancing and moshing. We mix catchy instrumental songs that could be sung with some of the traditional Eastern music, and live we really stretch out the improv sections.”

Cirigliano, who has earned his own following with his viral drum content and recently concluded a sold-out European tour with Greg Howe and Mohini Dey, added, “Gabriel’s Eastern influence, vocal guitar melodies, and shred capabilities combined with Nick’s powerful and driving basslines and Sage’s ethereal guitar textures, plus the spice of my high-energy Western drum grooves and chops to glue it all together—we can guarantee you’ve never heard anything like this before.”

Social Assassins’ studio debut, Only A Fool Fights in a Burning House, which also features former Conspirator drummer Greg “Torch” Sgrulloni, offers an official introduction to the band’s unorthodox style. Their adventurous approach is on full display in the new video for “Begrudging Acquiescence”, a song that combines an upbeat drum & bass-style dance groove with melodies inspired by Middle Eastern folk music and a fuzzed-out heavy metal breakdown, plus a guitar solo that underscores Marin’s studied mastery of his instrument and dumbfounding technical prowess.
