King Animal, the first album of new material by Soundgarden in over 15 years, is set for a November 13th release date.  The album’s first single ‘Been Away Too Long’ will be available via digital download on September 27th.  After breaking up in 1997 amid tensions and general discontent with touring and the state of the band, lead singer Chris Cornell announced on January 1st, 2010 that the he, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer extraordinaire Matt Cameron, and bassist Ben Shepherd would be getting back together and joining forces for a new album.  Telephantasm: A Retrospective, a compilation album which included the previously unreleased track ‘Black Rain’ was subsequently released, and the band toured in 2011, and has played several shows in 2012.  King Animal marks the first full album of new material since 1997’s Down on the Upside.  The album is being produced by Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Pearl Jam) who has worked with Soundgarden in the past.
