[UPDATE 11/9/2]: Spafford has added new dates to its winter 2023 tour schedule, including stops in the Northeast and Midwest in January and February.
Following the band’s previously announced winter tour dates, which kick off with a two-night run at Crested Butte, CO’s Public House on January 7th–8th and wrap up at Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club on the 21st, Spafford will head to the Northeast for shows in Pembroke, MA (1/25); Fairfield, CT (1/26); Ardmore, PA (1/27); and Buffalo, NY (1/31). Then in February, the band will trek to the Midwest for stops in Cleveland, OH (2/1); Ferndale, MI (2/2); and Chicago, IL (2/3). At this time, the tour is set to conclude in Milwaukie, WI on February 4th.

11/2/22: Arizona-native jam quartet Spafford has released its latest studio album, Simple Mysteries, and announced its first shows of 2023 as part of a 12-date January tour.
Simple Mysteries marks the first new studio collection from Spafford since 2019 EP The Gaff Tapes as well as the first official release of any kind from the band since 2020 live compilation Hindsight. It contains eight tracks, five of which have been debuted live during the band’s ongoing fall 2022 tour. The remaining three tracks on Simple Mysteries—”Backdoor Funk”, “Shake You Loose”, and “Broken Wing”—are road-tested staples making their first appearances on an official Spafford album.
Simple Mysteries was collaboratively produced by Spafford and engineered by Jordan Fairless at The Pound. The finished product was sent to 5-time Emmy Award-winning mixer Matt Rifino for mixing and 13-time Grammy Award-winner Dave McNair for mastering.
As the band—comprised of guitarist/vocalist Brian Moss, bassist/vocalist Jordan Fairless, keyboardist/vocalist Andrew “Red” Johnson, and drummer Nick Tkachyk—explained in a statement, “The album was recorded in phases throughout the course of the pandemic in our studio, ‘The Pound,’ where we selected some new ideas to bring to life and also gave some long-deserved studio treatment to songs we had already been playing live for some time. The result is a beautiful musical journey, hand crafted to perfection, ripe for the listening.”

Alongside the release of the new album, Spafford broke the seal on its 2023 touring schedule with the announcement of a two-week winter tour making stops at Crested Butte, CO (1/6, 1/7); Charlotte, NC (1/11); Asheville, NC (1/12); Nashville, TN (1/13); Atlanta, GA (1/14); Charleston, SC (1/15, 1/16); Raleigh, NC (1/18); Charlottesville, VA (1/19); Brooklyn, NY (1/20); and Washington, D.C. (1/21).
In the meantime, Spafford will finish 2022 strong with a string of previously announced tour dates in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida throughout the month of November and a two-night, hometown New Year’s run at Tempe, AZ’s Marquee Theatre on December 30th and 31st.
