Spike Jonze has released the first full-length trailer for his upcoming documentary, Beastie Boys Story. The film, based on the live events of the same name, will chronicle the history of the Beastie Boys with archival footage of members Michael “Mike D” DiamondAdam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, and the late Adam “MCA” Yauch.

The two-plus minute trailer follows a short teaser video released last month and gives viewers a more in-depth look into the movie’s direction. It briefly describes the band’s unexpected rise to prominence, from a small-time punk rock band in New York City to a nationally-touring hip-hop outfit.

“We wanted to be rappers so bad, but we were mediocre rappers at best,” Mike D says in the trailer.
