Spinal Tap bassist Derek Smalls (aka comedian and actor Harry Shearer) will put out his first solo album nearly 35 years after the release of the film that made him famous.

Dubbed Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing), the record will feature an impressive array of guest musicians like Donald Fagen of Steely Dan, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Crosby, Peter Frampton, Paul Shaffer, Dweezil Zappa, Joe Satriani, Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, and fellow comedian Jane Lynch. Shearer’s wife, singer-songwriter Judith Owen, is set to appear on the album as well

Additionally, the album includes contributions from Snarky Puppy leader/bassist Michael League and the Snarky Puppy Horns, which is no surprise considering the band’s hilarious collaboration with Smalls during their 2016 Jazz Fest after show (Shearer is longtime resident of New Orleans).

While Shearer is well known for his portrayal of Smalls in 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap, he is also a beloved radio host and voice actor. He has been a part of the cast of The Simpsons since the show’s first season in 1989, voicing iconic characters like Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, and Principal Skinner.

Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing) is slated for release on April 13 via Twank/BMG. You can listen to the album’s self-titled single below.
