Members of the fictional rock band Spinal Tap will reunite virtually later this month in hopes of raising money for Democrats currently running for office in Pennsylvania.

According to a report shared by Variety on Friday, the trio made famous by Rob Reiner‘s 1984 parody film about the fictional arena rock band by the same name comprised of Guitarist Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest), bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer), and singer David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), will take part in a virtual reunion on October 14th beginning at 9 p.m. ET. The actors will be joined in the event by Reiner and moderated by comedian Patton Oswalt.

Members of the fictional rock trio have reunited numerous times over the years, with the most recent being for the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival where the mockumentary was screened along with a live performance at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. Harry Shearer has stayed especially busy with his role of Derek Smalls recently, as the fictional bassist embarked on a west coast run of shows last fall with guest musicians Steve Luthaker (Toto), Dweezil Zappa, and Waddy Wachtel. The brief tour came in support of his 2018 solo album, Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing).

Select cast members of Almost Famous and That Thing You Do! reunited virtually earlier this year as virtual events have replaced concerts and festivals in 2020.
